The Health & Safety Student will support the Health & Safety team by assisting with the completion of day to day tasks and special projects. This is a 4 month contract position in a hybrid working environment.
Reporting to the National Director – Occupational Health & Safety and working as part of the OH&S Centre of Expertise, the Health & Safety Student is responsible to ensure the accurate capture of employee incident data and the timely and accurate reporting of injuries to worker’s compensation boards across Canada. Additionally, the Health & Safety Student will assist to ensure the success of the Occupational Health & Safety Centre of Expertise as well as the Revera Return-to-Work Program’s compliance by internal stakeholders.
Input and submit employer’s occupational incident reports to applicable provincial worker’s compensation boards (WCB/WSIB);
Provide information and assistance on our OH&S Claims Management system:
Support our site management teams with related inquiries as well as technical guidance information and education;
Provide direction and internal OH&S tools/resources applicable to incident;
Provide general OH&S support to site management teams and OH&S Centre of Expertise and other internal stakeholders, including:
Tracking and maintaining all educational/training records;
Tracking and maintaining all regulatory/compliance-based records;
OHS policies and procedures update;
Assist OHS Centre of Expertise with related project and goals as needed;
To uphold and promote the organization’s values and philosophy relating particularly to ethics, respect, and integrity as set out in Revera’s Code of Conduct;
To complete all other tasks assigned.
Required Education, Credentials and Experience:
Ambitious to make a difference;
In progress or successful completion of Education or Certification in Occupational Health & Safety or related field.
Experience in Workers’ Compensation management systems is an asset;
Advanced computer skills;
Fluency with Microsoft Excel;
Strong leadership, problem solving and decision-making skills;
Goal oriented team player and works well with all levels of employees and management;
Research and analytical skills;
Experience and/or familiarity with Provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act;
Exposure to WSIB/WCB standards, regulations protocols and procedures.
