Vaccines are a proven, safe and powerful weapon in our battle against COVID-19. Now that vaccines are widely available and recognizing that many of our staff are already vaccinated, vaccination will be a condition of employment for new hires, except when impossible due to legitimate, established exceptions. This is one more important step to protect both our residents and staff as we continue to battle this deadly virus.The Recreation Therapist provides our residents with person centered activity and restorative choices. Key Responsibilities - Provides appropriate resident centered activity and restorative choices; - Responsible for completing the initial and ongoing Therapeutic Recreation Assessments for DAL residents (and PAL if requested by the AHS); - Recommend and review, with the Director of Recreation, attendance as required; - Ability to communicate with the Executive Director, Director of Recreation and/or the Director of Care as required; - Review calendars monthly; - Responsible for the departmental audit; - Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavours to promote it; - Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted; - Promotes a positive team spirit within the department and the Residence; - Supports AHS Standards and Revera Inc. policies; - Upholds and promotes the organization's values and philosophy relating particularly to ethics, morality, and integrity as set out in Revera's Code of Conduct; - Other duties as assigned. Qualifications - A community college recreation diploma or university degree in recreational therapy is required - Will have previous experience in working with seniors, particularly in Assisted Living and/or Long Term Care for 3 – 5 years - Strong communication skills both oral and written - Organizational skills, creativity and high motivation are required - Knowledge of Microsoft Office and associated applications - Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one
